Went to Macready Artisan Bread Co. on the advice of a friend during a recent trip to Door County, and was so glad I did! I was looking for just a simple, healthy lunch, and was not disappointed. I ordered just a ham sandwich and mushroom bisque soup, and was SHOCKED at the amount of food I was handed! The soup was outstanding, and the sandwich was perfectly made and extremely fresh. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich, and she felt it was some of the best chicken salad she ever had. We loved this place so much, we came back a second time, the only restaurant in Door County we went to twice!
Drinks are just bottles and cans of soft drinks stocked in a publicly accessible refrigerator. The sandwich was about $10, and the soup was $8. Not cheap, but absolutely worth it. Full prices charged on the drinks, as is typical in most sandwich shops. Plus, there’s a nice, small assortment of fresh baked goodies for you to snack on, or to have as a desert.
We were there during the COVID-19 pandemic, and indoor dining was not allowed. We had to eat in outside, in a very nice courtyard, no problem at all, I even preferred it. They are taking all the precautions they possible can under circumstances, and I appreciate their willingness to operate at time where some restaurants have decided not to open at all.
The staff and owners are just wonderful people, and you can truly taste the love and goodness they put into all their food. Plus, they occasionally sponsor LIVE MUSIC in their gazebo! Some truly outstanding musicians come by, you’ll have to check with Macready for a schedule. Makes the outdoor dining even more fun. And don’t forget to take home a loaf of their fresh baked bread! A few different kinds to choose from, all excellent.
HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
